"Kauppakadun Appro" is one of the most traditional student events held in Jyväskylä, Finland. The event was first organized in 1976 and has, over its long history, gained a legendary reputation among student gatherings. Kauppakadun Appro is the best way to kick off the academic year with fellow students from all over Finland.
START
The starting point for Kauppakadun Appro is the Lutakko Harbor Square, where approgoers set out to earn their degrees in Jyväskylä’s restaurants and bars. At the starting location, there will be various forms of entertainment to get everyone in the appro-mood.
THE APPRO
The concept of Kauppakadun Appro is built around playfully earning academic degrees by collecting achievement stamps in the appro-passport. This is done by collecting stamps in the predefined restaurants, bars and other places located in the center of Jyväskylä.
AFTERPARTY
The circuit culminates at the official afterparty at the Paviljonki, where examiners assess the candidates’ performance. At the afterparty, badges corresponding to the earned degrees in the appro-pass are distributed. Top artists ensure the best student experience in Finland.

The starting point opens at 15:00.
First scheduled departure is at 15:40 and from that on the departures are in every 20 minutes.
At 19:00 is the last departure and the starting point closes.

DEPOSIT INSTRUCTIONS
In the event we have a can deposit of 0,50€. By using the can deposit, we want to help prevent littering of the event area and ensure that we get all the cans correctly for sorting and recycling.
The deposit is paid for each can purchased at the dispensing point. When you buy your first drink, you pay a can deposit of 0,50€ to the cashier. When you come to get your next drink and you bring an empty can to the cashier, you don’t have to pay the deposit again for a new can. If you don’t want to buy a new can anymore, you’ll get your paid deposit back when you return the can to the cashier or to a separate return point at the event area. The maximum return amount is 3 cans/person.
Cans are not allowed to be taken outside the event area, and they are not allowed to be brought from outside the area into the area.
RULES
§ Each examinee must adhere to the laws, regulations, and rules of order and obey the orders of law enforcement.
§ Examinees must be of legal drinking age, and everyone must prove their age at the starting area.
§ Do not litter or otherwise dirty the city – surely you can manage to dispose of trash in the nearest bin and hold it until you find the nearest restroom.
§ The degree is completed at local examination venues. Remember to stamp your diploma after passing each exam.
§ The examination time is 5 hours, for doctoral candidates, it’s 6 hours.
§ Those completing ”Approbatur” may complete one academic achievement, ”Cum Laude” and ”Laudatur” completers may complete two, and those seeking a doctoral degree may complete three academic achievements per place.
§ Examiners will assess the appro achievement at the final afterparty venue. There is no appeal against the examiner’s evaluation.

One can only complete a higher degree if they have completed the preceding degree in previous years.
EQUALITY IN KAUPPAKADUN APPRO
Harrasment, discrimination or racism of any kind is not allowed at the event. At the event, we are all responsible for the comfortability and enjoyment, so let’s make an event where everyone can enjoy themselves.
APPRO-ETIQUETTE
Give appro-peace: Treat all participants and organizers with respect. give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the event. If you don’t know the boundaries of other person, you can ask them.
zero tolerance for harassment: Harassment will be reported to the organizers and law enforcement.
offer help: Be ready to help others when needed. However, remember to ask if help is needed before helping.
keep places clean: Take care of your own garbage and recycle it correctly.
don’t skip in line: You will automatically lose your place in line and be moved to the back of the line.
Violation of the etiquette will result in removal from the event.
HARASSMENT CONTACT PERSON:
There are trained people in the event who you can be in touch with if you face harassment. You can recognize them from pink vests and you find them from start at 15:00-19:00 and from Paviljonki at 21:00-3:00 in the first aid station. You can also call to 0405152428 (SPR) between 15:00 and 3:00 if you face harassment.
There is law enforcement in the event and you can ask help from them if you have any troubles.

Event is partially accessible. It is accessible to come to the starting point and the area is accessible, but all of the activities are not accessible. In appropass’ map accessible (=esteetön) restaurants, bars and other places are marked with black circle. To the afterparty, accessible entrance is with VIP-entrance.
